The Nkuku sales team has recently returned from NY Now, a wonderful exhibition held in the Javits Centre; a vast glass building (above)  in Midtown Manhattan. Taking part in trade shows around the globe is a definite perk of the job!  We had a fantastic show and as always it was great to catch up with our American customers. Despite the long days and the aching feet once you leave the show you are still buzzing and ready to explore the city.

Manhattan is famously dominated by enormous buildings, constant sound and energy but a stroll across Brooklyn bridge and a gentle ferry trip down the Hudson transported  us to another side of New York City and the delights of the Williansburg flea market.

The layed back pace is more East London with an eclectic mix of shops selling the exciting and interesting work of young designers. The vibe is anything goes and as is always the case in New York, you feel like anything is possible!

An amble took us passed unusual and beautiful jewelery, outrageous fashion and eclectic book stalls spilling into the streets. The graffiti that adorned the walls was extraordinary and brilliant.

The Williamsburg Flea Market buzzed with life and music; artists displayed an interesting and inventive mix of works from unique concepts using free cycling maps and spray paint to more traditional paintings.

The market is situated on the banks of the Hudson and stalls are filled with  antiques,  unusual finds and hidden gems.

A further stroll around Williamsburg revealed old industrial buildings kept in their raw state but filled with small buzzing restaurants serving delicious and often  inventive food, and a young friendly crowd just passing time.   Lots of inspiration gained and stored! Thank you Williamsburg!
